Who We Are

About FactProof

Our Mission

FactProof is an independent fact-checking and media literacy organization. We investigate viral claims, political statements, health misinformation, and economic data to help readers distinguish accurate information from misleading or false content.

We are nonpartisan. We investigate claims from across the political spectrum and apply the same methodological standards to every subject we cover. Our commitment is to evidence, not ideology.

What We Do

We publish detailed fact-check investigations that explain not just our verdict, but the reasoning behind it — the sources we consulted, the experts we contacted, the data we examined. We want readers to be able to evaluate our work, not just accept our conclusions.

We also publish media literacy guides to help readers develop the skills to evaluate information themselves. We believe an informed public is the best long-term defense against misinformation.

Editorial Independence

FactProof's editorial process is completely independent from our advertising relationships. Advertisers do not influence which claims we investigate, how we rate them, or what we publish. Our revenue comes from display advertising on this website. We do not accept payment from political organizations, advocacy groups, government agencies, or corporations to investigate or rate specific claims.

Our Standards

We are signatories to the International Fact-Checking Network's Code of Principles, which requires commitment to nonpartisanship, transparency of sources, transparency of funding and organization, transparency of methodology, and an open and honest corrections policy.

Every fact-check we publish is reviewed by at least two editors before publication. We contact the source of every claim when possible before publishing our verdict. We link to every primary source we cite.

Corrections

We correct errors quickly and transparently. When a correction is made, we note it prominently at the top of the affected article, explain what was wrong and what the correct information is, and date the correction. We never silently delete or alter published content. You can view our complete corrections history on the Corrections Log.
